About Me

Chef Anita
I have always enjoyed food and wine. What started out as a hobby, turned into a passion and addiction (addicted in a good way). In the mid-80’s I was on the founding board of Les Amis du Vin Newtown/Danbury, CT Chapter. We published a monthly newsletter, and planed wine tastings and wine pairing dinners. I left the organization when I moved to Virginia and became a stay-at-home mom. In 2001 I started Kitchen Capers. I was a certified personal chef cooking meals in people’s homes, catering, and offering cooking classes. I was also a kitchen assistant at Sur La Table assisting local chefs and celebrity guest chefs (e.g. Grace Young, Molly Stevens, Joanne Weir). What FUN! From 2005 to 2007 I worked with a national distributor doing cooking demos at Kroger. I cooked with wine while they did a wine tasting. Since 2007 I have been an independent wine consultant working with my national distributor doing wine tastings at off-premise locations (off-premise is where you purchase wine for consumption off-site – i.e. grocery stores). It is a great job where I meet wonderful customers and provide wine recommendations. You know, you never meet grumpy people when you drink wine.
