Nobilo Sauvignon Blanc,, 2010

The 2010 release of Nobilo Sauvignon Blanc is finally in the stores near me and I had the opportunity to taste it.  It did not disappoint.  If you enjoy Marlborough, New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc then this is for you.

Nobilo 2010 Sauvignon Blanc is from Marlborough, New Zealand and 100% Sauvignon Blanc.  This had all the aromas and flavors you'd expect from a typical Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.  A very pronounced grapefruit aroma plus another note I could not place.  Looking at the winemaker's notes I'm guessing it was passion fruit as that's not an aroma I'm familiar with.  The flavor was grapefruit forward with citrus and again the "other" note I could not place.  Again, passion fruit?  Crisp and refreshing.  Enjoyable.

Winemaker's Notes:  COLOUR. Pale yellow with brilliant clarity.  NOSE. Very evident aromas of pineapple, passion fruit and melon.  PALATE. Fresh, crisp and clean with zesty flavours of ripe tropical fruits and zingy acidity. A beautifully balanced wine with great presence and mouthfeel. FOOD MATCH. Enjoyable on its own as an aperitif, or pairs well with any lighter  seafood dish, lemon herb chicken, or summer salads.
